Kirk’s Accident Blog

I just got off the phone with Kirk. He’s in quite a bit of pain from the exercise machine but he sounded upbeat.

It’s going to be a few months before he starts physical therapy and they find out if the repairs done on his shattered knee will work or if he will have to get a knee replacement.

The good news is that the doctor told him not to worry, one way or the other he will be walking again. He’s got a lot of pain and physical therapy to go through but hopefully next year we’ll see him on his feet again.

I got a phone message from Kirk. Good and bad news.

The good news is he is doing well in the recovery and he should be on crutches shortly, couple weeks to a month.

The bad news is that he will be on them for quite some time. They don’t think he will be off the crutches for at least the rest of this year. They also don’t think he will ever walk normal again.

Lets hope that Kirk is one of those people that proves them wrong.

So Kirk is at home and they’re bringing a machine over today to automatically exercise his leg for 6 hours a day. I’m sure he’s not going to be enjoying that much but it’s necessary to help his leg heal right.

Pretty good news. The surgery went very well and besides some bad side effects from the anesthesia Kirk is doing good. They put pins all through his leg and made him into the 6 million dollar man. He also checked out of the hospital today and is at home now trying to start recuperation.

Now the bad news. Kirk is going to be out of work for a while. Since he is the sole provider for his wife and two daughters they are going to be hurting for money. Kirk is kind of out of it right now and his wife Beth doesn’t know his paypal account, so I’ve put up a paypal donation that will send money to their good friend Lindsey.

Kirk would never ask for it, he will probably bitch at me for doing it, but anything you can spare to donate to his family would be greatly appreciated by all.

Kirk is going in for surgery today. Wish him luck. I’ll post more when I hear.

On his birthday, June 10th, Kirk had an accident and broke his leg. Well, broke can be a bit of an understatement. He broke his leg in 10 places and is going in for surgery soon. They are worried about the damage to his leg and trying to figure out a way to save it.
